In order to fully install NEXYGEN on Windows 2000 or XP you must have full administration rights for the Operating system. Please consult your IT department so that you can obtain these rights. Once the software is fully installed the user rights can be then be restricted again in line with your IT policy. Note that sufficient user rights will still be required to access the registry and any folder that NEXYGEN data is to be saved to.

If you do have the appropriate user rights in order to copy files to this folder and the error you are getting is something like:
The InstallShield engine (iKernel.exe) could not be installed. iKernel.exe could not be copied to C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\Engine\6\Intel 32.
Then this would indicate that there is already an instance of iKernel.exe running in memory.
You should determine if a copy of iKernel.exe is already running, if it isthen end the task by:
Press Ctrl + Alt + Delete.
Select Task Manager.
Select the Processes tab.
Look for IKernel.exe. select it and click End Process.
Select Yes to the Task Manager Warning dialog.
Unfortunately if the Batch has become corrupt it is not possible to recover any useful data from it. To avoid this problem occurring in the future it is good practice to regularly back up the data to a suitable media.
Yes, you can use the Batch tester utility, which is available on all copies of the NEXYGEN CD.This installation program can be found by simply browsing the NEXYGEN CD and by locating the folder called “Utils”.
Full user and operating instructions for the Batch tester can be found in the “Manuals” folder, which is also located on the NEXYGEN CD.
NEXYGEN uses a software console to communicate with the Material test machine; this console can be opened from the Windows “Start” button then select programs and the NEXYGEN folder.
Turn on the Material Test Machine.
The Material Test Machine must be connected to a serial COM port of the computer by the correct type of RS232 cable (see the machine user manual for details on this). Ensure that this cable is present, firmly connected and in good condition.
You also need to be sure that the correct console is being selected for your particular machine i.e. A Plus series machine can only use the EZ and Plus series console etc.
Once the correct software console has been opened it is necessary to configure it for communication. Using the mouse button right click on the console and select Port settings form the options, then choose the COM port that the RS232 has been connected to.
The minimum publicised specification stated for using NEXYGEN software requires that a dedicated computer is used that has one Free COM Port, with a 16550 UART.
This is the only way to ensure effective communication between the material test machine and the software.
It is however possible to use a serial to USB converter, but this is not the officially recommended connection type and Lloyd Instruments Limited are not able to give assurance that this type of connection will work successfully.
However this type of converter has been used at our head office for many years.
(A model that has been used at our head office for many years is the Alpha Micro AMC- 232USB01 and this converter has been successfully used with Windows XP operating systems)
It is therefore most likely that if a high quality RS232 to USB converter is used that meets with the same specification then this should also communicate successfully.
